Discover the Bridgerton cast Enneagram types and how their personalities shape their actions and relationships throughout the series.
Daphne Bridgerton: Type 1, The Perfectionist
From the get-go, Daphne strives for perfection. She is praised by Queen Charlotte and deemed the season’s “Incomparable.” As the season progresses, we see that she has a strong sense of right and wrong, insisting that everyone follows the rules, just as she does. For instance, because she is the eldest daughter, it is her responsibility to marry well so she can pave the way for her little sisters.

Enneagram Type Ones have a core desire to be “good.” With this comes a fierce inner critic that demands perfection and expects others to meet that expectation as well.
Enter Daphne: a young woman who pursues perfection as a daughter, sister, and future wife with dedicated intensity. But when her path to marriage is threatened, she purposefully makes a deal with Simon to increase her eligibility. She does what needs to be done! Also, she has a Reformer’s justice-oriented heart, which manifests in her kind-hearted actions towards others (like when she tries to intervene for Marina Thompson!).
The Queen: Type 2, The Helper
As the wife of King George III, Queen Charlotte is the ultimate tastemaker of London society. Not only does she know everybody’s affairs, but she wants to be directly involved in everybody’s affairs. To me, this screams Enneagram Type Two. She devours Lady Whistledown’s gossip column and manipulates pawns in her control to be a part of the social scene.

Thus, maybe some of her matchmaking obsession is because her own love life is falling apart. We see glimpses of King George suffering from Alzheimer’s, angrily dismissing his wife in confusion. Beneath the Queen’s stoic exterior, her pain and rejection are visible. How unbelievably painful to have your husband forget who you are! A Type Twos core longing is to be wanted and loved, and Queen Charlotte is suppressing this heartache by pouring into the needs and actions of others.
Anthony Bridgerton: Type 3, The Achiever
As the oldest Bridgerton, Anthony reluctantly takes up his role as head of the family when his father dies. For all the Type Threes reading this (myself included), I know being the same type as Anthony isn’t your idea of a fun time. Sometimes he’s a workaholic, sometimes he’s a rake, sometimes he’s just an insufferable older brother. However, I believe that Anthony is an out-of-alignment Achiever who is deeply conflicted between his longing for worldly success and the desires of his heart (*cough* Siena *cough*).

He makes status-conscious decisions for his family, even when that means doing some lazy match-making for poor Daphne. He is proud, pragmatic, and assertive. I hope he leans more into his growth path and the healthy traits of an Enneagram Six in Season 2!
Penelope Featherington: Type 4, The Romantic
In the words of Abigail Barlow’s TikTok sensation of #bridgertonmusical, Penelope is “never as thin, never as perfect, never for him, never deserving of the boy [she] loves.” Poor Penelope is stuck with every Type Fours plight: nobody understands her. Her sisters mock her, her mother dismisses her, and her best friend Eloise doesn’t know the truth about her.

Because Type Fours know how it feels to be misunderstood, they have the unique ability to identify and empathize with outcasts. Penelope sees herself in fellow outsider Marina Thompson and does her best to comfort and support her… at least, until her true love is threatened. Yes, like any true Romantic, she has been burning a torch for Colin Bridgerton for many years. (You could even say she “burns for him.” Sorry, I’m a musical theater nerd. I had to.)
Benedict Bridgerton: Type 5, The Investigator
Benedict Bridgerton is the second-born son, content to watch his family’s drama on the sidelines. He is reserved, preferring to observe rather than participate. This is why I think he’s a shoo-in for an Enneagram Type Five. Investigators yearn for knowledge and competence, often diving headfirst into topics that catch their attention.

Benedict, longing for something other than parties and betrothals, seeks information about sketching and painting. He finds himself observing a different type of society: bohemians, artists, and homosexuals. I’m interested to see where Benedict’s thirst for knowledge will take him in Season 2. (A dreamy male love interest, perhaps?)
Siena Rosso: Type 6, The Loyalist
This sultry opera singer knows a thing or two about being self-reliant. As a bohemian artist who works for a living, the rest of society looks down on her. So shocking!

Siena’s core desire is to be supported and loved, which is why she’s a Loyalist. After Anthony’s final betrayal, she tells him, “I am looking out for myself. I am ensuring my own future.” She is a resourceful woman who preps for worst-case scenario situations.
Eloise Bridgerton: Type 7, The Optimist
Next up, the rebellious and precocious Eloise Bridgerton! This young feminist values freedom, and longs for a life outside the status quo. She wants to learn, discover, and play. She definitely does NOT want the life of her sister Daphne, saying instead that she would prefer spinsterhood (In Regency-speak, this means 28 and unmarried. *Gasp*!) Like an Enneagram Seven, she approaches life with curiosity, always looking for the next best thing.

When I posted my musings about Eloise on my Instagram, I received a LOT of pushback about her being an Optimist. Bridgerton fans heatedly commented that I was mistaken because “Eloise is absolutely a Five.” She investigates the true identity of Lady Whistledown, her nose is always in a book, and she is too pessimistic to be a Type Seven. What I concluded from these comments is that Eloise has elements of Type Five and Type Seven in her because these types are linked in their growth and stress paths!
When Type Sevens are in growth, they move to the healthy side of a Type Five. When Type Fives are under stress, they move to the unhealthy side of a Type Four. What do you think? Am I going to disappoint more fans with this hot take?
Lady Danbury: Type 8, The Challenger
The cane. The one-liners. The “kiss my ass” attitude. Lady Danbury is everything I want to be, but would never have the guts (or the outfits) to achieve. She is hands-down an Enneagram Eight, the Challenger.

Lady Danbury fights for the people she loves, orchestrates social situations like a true lioness, and speaks her mind. I especially see her Protector qualities displayed in the way she cares for Simon. As a loyal and fierce friend to his mother, Lady Hastings, she devotes herself to making sure that Simon grows up secure and loved. I hope teen girls everywhere want to grow up to be just like Lady D.
Simon Basset: Type 8, The Challenger
What would high-society London be without a brooding, devastatingly handsome duke? Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, rose from a traumatic childhood in which he internalized the wounding message that it is not okay to trust anyone.

Simon views the world as aggressive and harsh. In order to survive, he has to be the strongest, the smartest, the broodiest. Plus, considering he was raised by Type Eight Lady Danbury, it’s no wonder he is the Challenger. One thing to know about Type Eights is that they secretly have a HUGE heart, which we see unfold as Simon falls in love with Daphne. Vulnerability is really hard for Simon, but when he finally lets himself go, he is able to find happiness. Read this blog post about type 8s to learn everything else you would want to know about them.
Colin Bridgerton: Type 9, The Peacemaker
Oh, sweet Colin. You’re hot and clueless, and we love you. I view Colin as the Peacemaker of the series. Whether it be his devotion to Marina or his easy-going ways, Colin seeks an environment of love and unity. We see him “go along to get along” when he is easily persuaded to take Daphne to the duel between Simon and Anthony.

Plus, like all Type Nines, Colin can be counted on in a pinch!
But one thing he struggles with is acting on his desires. Type Nines tend to self-forget meaning they suppress their wants and needs to merge with others. It takes Penelope reminding Colin that he longs for adventure and wants to travel the world for him to act on it. You can watch all seasons of Bridgerton on Netflix.
